So tired. But today I am thankful for:
- Fall weather
- Fun coworkers
- Cameras
- Books
- Sleep
- Weekends
- Chocolate
- Safe travels
- Crossword puzzles
- Cold, cold water
Hopefully I’ll have more to say tomorrow. And maybe some new photos, too.
Things & Stuff

Hopefully I’ll have more to say tomorrow. And maybe some new photos, too.
I’m down to the wire on the book-writing. The manuscript is due in 16 days (breathe, breathe, breathe). I haven’t been sleeping well (or at all). I’m ready for it to be over, but in order for it to be over, I have to write, but in order to write, I have to feel creative and since I’m ready for it to be over I don’t feel creative. Vicious circle.
A little late on the Self-Portrait Tuesday – this is from Photo Booth, and my eyes look pretty freaky:
So! A Wednesday list.
Halloween costumes I’ve worn in my life (that I remember):
I seriously need to get on the ball with this year’s costume. Soon!
Hi everybody! It’s Monday, which means… music! These two songs have been in my head since I heard them on Brian Ferry’s 8Tracks mixes, so I’m adding them to this month’s list.
The Avett Brothers – January Wedding
Dirty Beaches – True Blue
And since it’s the last Monday in September, I’ve got the full list for this month up on my 8Tracks page. 🙂
It’s neat to look back on the songs I was listening to each week – I can definitely see some mood swings there. 🙂
Hope you all have a great week!
I’ve been falling in love with restaurants left and right. Justin and I had dinner at DK Sushi (north location), and I LOVED it. The outside is pretty divey. Inside it’s casual, comfy, welcoming…just a few tables and a sushi bar on one side, and grocery aisles with sushi ingredients on the other.
Sushi bar (they teach sushi-rolling classes here occasionally)…
Grocery aisles (in the midst of expansion).
And DK!
DK is the most awesome part of DK sushi. He’s friendly, and funny, and excited about life, and ready to share it all with you. He says that this is YOUR life, and you have to make yourself happy. That you have to understand yourself to understand the world. That if you’re not going to use your happiness, he’ll steal it from you. That he has something to share with the world, and that the world will share with him. That you should take on life with both hands, and just Bring It On. Also? He’s an emcee for karaoke night on Mondays at the DK Sushi south location. I can’t WAIT to go see him!
Okay, so on to the food. The sushi was great – everything was fresh and clean and delicious. We had miso soup, of course.
Justin in the corner! 🙂
Unagi (eel), sake (salmon), maguro (tuna) and hamachi (yellowtail).
Canadian roll – with salmon skin and cucumber.
Torched escolar – there’s only one piece because I gobbled mine up before I remembered to take a photo. (Oops!) This was sooooo good.
DK said since I was taking photos, he’d make something pretty. He calls this Paradise – salmon, mango, strawberry and jalapeno. And it was dang good.
I asked him what that leaf was on the bottom of the plate, and he said it was perilla leaf. I asked if it was like Japanese shiso, and he said kinda sorta. He said Koreans use perilla leaf instead of shiso. I asked if you could just eat it plain, and he said he’d show us. He brought out a perilla leaf topped with raw snapper, a thin slice of lemon (with the rind), a slice of jalapeno and a smidge of Korean hot sauce. It was AWESOME. He told me not to take a photo of it because he said it looked funny… I thought it looked gorgeous and was very sad not to have a photo. But, c’est la vie. What DK says, goes. 🙂
So! We will definitely be back to DK Sushi. And we’re really looking forward to seeing his show on a Monday night very soon! DK, kamsahamnida!
He always looks kind of hoity-toity like this.
Hello, internets! I’m making it a little more girly around here with the pink. I like pink. 🙂
Today I am thankful for:
Happy Thursday, everyone!
