Things & Stuff

  • kittehs and a change

So I’m switching up the blog a bit. Now that I’m photographing Daily Eats, I’m taking fewer non-food photos, and am finding less to say in regular blog posts. I’m going to put Daily Eats on the front page of poco-cocoa for now, right along with the other posts, since they seem to have become my main focus for the time being. If I have more to say, I’ll just add it to the bottom of a Daily Eats post, or slip in an extra post like this one (and if I get tired of them being on the front page, I’ll just move them back). You’ll still be able to click on the Daily Eats category at the top, and just see those posts, but they’ll also show up here on the main page. If you guys think that’s a horrible idea, and would much rather not see the Daily Eats posts on the main page, let me know in the comments – and I’ll think about it. 🙂

Also, aren’t the kittehs cute? Little always tries to curl up with Roux; sometimes he lets her, sometimes he doesn’t. She got lucky this time.

Breakfast: Golden Grahams and soy milk.

Lunch at Red Lobster: grilled shrimp skewers, rice pilaf, steamed broccoli, and a biscuit. My coworker retired today, so a group of us had lunch together. I should have gotten the popcorn shrimp.

Dinner: Nachos with jalapeños. I also had two Oreos.

Lunch: beef caldo, a crispy taco, chips and salsa, and fresh flour tortillas at Joe’s Bakery. We had lunch with Rachel, in all her cuteness.

Afternoon snack: I had a cappuccino at Houndstooth (Justin had a beer), with Rachel again. She was still cute.

Dinner, part 1: the last of the leftover zombie party hot dogs, with mustard.

Dinner, part 2: a small cup of leftover mac and cheese.

Lunch (I never wake up in time for breakfast on weekends): leftover mac and cheese with turnips and sweet potatoes.

Snack: crescent roll with jam. Still using up leftovers from the zombie party.

Dinner: We went to our first Martineau & Bird event at Red Bluff Studio. The pizza was by our friend Christian’s Bola trailer; salads by Elizabeth at Rainlily Farm/Farmhouse Delivery.

Dinner 2: After the event, we stopped by our friend Aaron’s new bar, The Grackle to check it out. Our friends Paul/Moto/Eric are now operating another East Side King trailer just outside the bar, with a new, really fun menu. This is the instant ramen with pork belly, eggs and scallions. How fun is that?

Dinner 3: And this is the the chicken yakitori – juicy grilled chicken, topped with chicken cracklins, plus Philippine pickled cabbage, and kewpie mayo atop rice topped with bonito flakes and furikake. This was INSANELY good.

    Dessert: two Oreos.

Breakfast: pillows with soy milk. 🙂

Lunch: portabello panini from Portabla at a lunch meeting. I only ate half.

Dinner: Girls’ movie night! Don’t you just love my friend A.’s jadite plates? Gorgeous. Anyway, we feasted on House pizza, Antonelli’s cheese plates/olives/marcona almonds, J.’s garlic breadsticks, C.’s bacon-wrapped jalapeños, and N.’s peanutella.

And for dessert, J.’s tiramisu cupcakes. Yum.
