Internets! My book is now available for pre-order:

    BookPeople

    Amazon

    Barnes & Noble

    Borders

(How crazy is that?! It’s very surreal to see it for sale on these sites.)

It will be available on April 12. And I will have a book signing at BookPeople on Tuesday, June 28 at 7:00 p.m. If you’ll be in town, please plan on stopping by!

It’s seriously weird to see my name on a book like that – and to know that in just a couple of weeks, I’ll have the book in my hands! After so much hard work, I’ll be so happy to finally see it.

Thanks again to all of you for all the support you’ve given me during the book-writing process. You’re the best! 🙂

I just read that Baz Luhrmann is directing an adaptation of The Great Gatsby, starring Leonardo DiCaprio as Gatsby, Carey Mulligan as Daisy, and Tobey Maguire as Nick Carraway. Hurry up, 2012!

I finally watched It’s Complicated. I laughed the whole time… John Krasinksi is TOO funny. I loved her bakery, I loved her fabulous home, I loved the chats with girlfriends, her timeless style, the many meals shared and the making of chocolate croissants. I think this one will be added to my favorites list.

These letterpress cards are hilarious. I love the letter to Noah.

    **

Tracy is photographing something food-related every day for a year.

    **

Rachel and Logan visited a cocina economica in Merida. This is pretty much my dream restaurant – I’ve always wanted to open a tiny place that serves one or two things a day, with just a few extras.

    **

I adore Camilla’s photos of daily breakfasts. She has the cutest dishware, and now I’m determined to try lingonberries.

    **

I love these subtly animated gifs from films. They’re so eerie.

    **

Likewise, Jamie has been creating some gorgeous animated gifs.

I just discovered Jake and Amir. I can’t stop laughing.

    Dear God,

Thank you for the lovely weather today. I rode my scooter, and every moment that I was outside, I appreciated the breeze, the sun, the clouds, the clean air, the trees, and life itself. I’m looking forward to seeing what you bring tomorrow.

    Dear Husband,

Two nights ago you said your heart fluttered when you saw me as you walked in the door. I’m so happy to be your wife.

Dear Anonymous Office Coworker Who Left Free Packets of Oatmeal in the Kitchen,

    Thanks! You saved my morning.

    Dear Scooter,

I sometimes forget about you, parked in the garage, because it’s so easy to just hop in the car and have an air-conditioned ride to work. After our fling today, I doubt I’ll forget you anytime soon.

    Dear Weekends,

I look forward to seeing you every week, and our time together is always too short. Sometimes we just nap together, sometimes we run errands, and sometimes we have picnics. How about this time we watch basketball, start cleaning out the garage, go thrifting, and see friends at Supper Club? Let me know, k thx.

    Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

    Breakfast of champions. 😉

Lunch: leftover pasta and zucchini. I was reading one of the bajillion magazines that I somehow haven’t opened in the past few months. I like to tear out my favorite pages and scan them into Evernote.

My current favorite packaged cookie. I’ve only seen these at Central Market. I had two after lunch, and two more after dinner. 🙂

Before dinner snack: marcona almonds at work, then more chips and salsa from yesterday at home (not pictured).

Dinner: black bean and cheese burritos topped with tomatillo-avocado sauce, with calabacitas.

Today was a good day. I woke up feeling good, and I’m ending the day feeling good. Today I was okay with not being perfect. I took the time to keep my home tidy. I listened to Hank Williams and Patsy Cline on the record player. I organized magazine clippings, and I threw a lot of unnecessary paper away. I hugged Justin a lot, and kissed the kitty cats. I felt grateful for my coworkers, and glad for some good news from my dad. I was happy for my friend N., who had a good day today, too. I read about Rachel and Logan’s awesome adventures in Mexico. I got a sweet card in the mail with exciting news.

I hope you all had a good day, too.

  • Tuesday

Breakfast: tall soy iced mocha. It’s time for iced coffee!

Lunch: leftover veggies and cannellini beans.

Snack 1: chocolate chip cookie. I stopped at Central Market and got a couple of boxes of cookies for my coworkers. It just felt like a cookie day.

Snack 2: Marcona almonds. I’ve been looking for them all over, and Justin finally found some for me today at Central Market. You can see Roux in the background, just thinking about it.

Snack 3: Justin brought all these salsas from Kala’s Kuisine. (I think he met the owner? A friend of the owner?) They’re kind of a fusion between Indian and Mexican. I tried all of them except the habanero, because I’m a chile wimp. I loved the three that I tried, though – the salsa is spicy-sweet (I usually don’t love chipotle stuff, but this was really good), the chutney would be perfect over brie, and the avocado sauce would be good on just about everything.

Late dinner: penne with zucchini and feta.

Today I got a new battery for my laptop – it’s so exciting! It would only hold a charge for 5 – 10 minutes, so I had to be plugged in at all times. It was quite annoying. Justin did some research, and decided it was a faulty battery, and it looks like the new one is working well. I’m excited about using my laptop like an actual laptop again. 🙂
