So things are trucking along here in Austin. We’re smack-dab in the middle of SXSW, so it’s a bit hectic downtown. Still, I mostly feel proud that this is my city – that tourists and visitors can come here and experience how wonderful my hometown is. I love this place.

Justin has been CRACKING ME UP lately.

We talked about the current style of men’s saggy jeans.
Him: I think my butt is out of style. (Definitely no.)

I mentioned how swoony it would be if a guy kissed my hand upon meeting me.
Him: I dunno. That’s kind of like hand rape.

    • My beautiful friend Kate just introduced me to Jesse Woods. And just like that, I’m in love.
    • I’m completely inspired by Ellen Silverman’s photos of Cuban kitchens.
    • Words I’ve loved lately:

      Coltish. (Danke, Coops.)
      Copacetic. (Danke, David.)

    • I like the idea of no more FakeBook.
    • Love letter perfection.
    • I hope you all have a lovely week.♥

Today marks eight years of this little blog’s existence. It’s hard to believe that eight years has passed since I decided that I needed a spot to keep my thoughts, photos, and recipes, so that I could keep my family updated. And here I am, eight years older, eight years wiser, eight years different.

Thank you all for sticking with me – and I look forward to many more years of poco-cocoa!♥

    beet-juice-breakfast1

Lately my goal has been to ingest as many fruits and vegetables as possible. I don’t want to cut out foods. I don’t want to stop drinking. I don’t want to give up coffee or not eat sweets. But I can add in more fruits and veggies, and I think that’s a good start.

    beet-juice-breakfast2

Juicing is an easy way for me to get the goodness in. Some beets, an apple, some ginger, maybe a few carrots – it’s bright and beautiful and delicious.

Then I use the beet greens and bits of broccoli in a scramble – and just like that, I’ve taken in a plethora of vegetables and fruits.

Now if only I could wake up early enough each day to do this.♥
