The book signing!

Posted on June 29th, 2011

Hooray, I made it through the book signing event! I can’t believe that after months of agonizing over it, it was all over in less than an hour. Here are a ton of photos that Justin took. Also, if you’re really bored, you can watch video of the event that my super-awesome friend Peter took, here (speech) and here (Q&A). Please note that I was nervous, and therefore a bit goofy. Actually, I’m pretty much always that goofy. Thank you to everyone who attended the event! I got to see old friends and new friends, and meet so many great people (Hi Paige! Hi Aimee! Hi Katrina!), and by the end of the night my cheeks hurt from smiling so much. The staff at…

Stuff I Like #3

Omigosh, omigosh, omigosh I want this camera. [via Paper Pastries] ** Jamie’s photos of behind-the-scenes at the Oscar de la Renta show are amazing. The colors, textures, and hats of this new line remind me of the photos Rachel and Logan have been posting of Bolivian women. (Yes, I expect you to click all of those links.) ** I am completely in love with Nam’s coverage of Pitti Uomo and Milano Moda Uomo. Just look at these men! They’re more stylish than I could ever be. (one, two, three, four, five, six, seven) ** Ai’s lunch of rice porridge, sesame green beans, and deep-fried tofu has me drooling. ** Have a great week, everyone!

Book Signing Event!

Posted on June 24th, 2011

Dear Everybody, I hope you can make it to my book signing event on Tuesday, June 28th at 7:00 p.m. at BookPeople (603 N. Lamar). Apparently I will be speaking about the book (Hi! I ate stuff! It was good! And then I wrote about it!), and signing copies that you can buy in-store. I will probably be smiling a lot, and might be extremely nervous. But hopefully I’ll get to meet some of you for the first time, and hopefully I’ll keep it together enough to remember my name. Hope to see you soon! xoxo, me

From As Usual: After we have parted, the boats will continue to leave the harbor at dawn. The salmon will struggle up to the pools, one month following the other on the wall. From Thank-You Notes: So I am writing now to thank everyone who drifted off that day like smoke from a row of blown-out candles– for giving up your only flame. Beth Powning Summer passed. One day the swallows left; that night, the air was edged by the breath of winter. Goldenrod held tufts of seed fluff and the hawthorns bore shrivelled berries. In the morning,…
