Things & Stuff

  • Friday

Breakfast: A serious day calls for serious coffee. Tall soy no whip mocha. It’s kinda my thing.

Lunch with A. at Chosun Galbi: Dolsot Bi Bim Bap. Oh, how I love bi bim bap.

Dinner: black bean tacos with colby jack cheese. Justin made margaritas. He makes really good ‘ritas.

I can has Cheetos? πŸ™‚ The Cheetos were supposed to be for Justin’s boys’ game day tomorrow, but we ended up digging in to them after four episodes of Mad Men and a bit of Australian Open. And Little wanted some, too. (Also, did you know there are Mad Men cocktails? Holy moly.)

FYI: I just finished Season 2 of Mad Men, I think. πŸ™‚

Breakfast at work: toasted baguette with butter, hot cocoa made with soy milk. My cubemate L. brought me these adorable recipe cards from the Black Apple. She said she saw them and thought of me. Isn’t that sweet?

Lunch: leftover spaghetti and salad greens. I like to mix my salad greens in with my pasta so it wilts a little. Also, I heated up the leftovers and realized that it was way too much food, but then I ate it all anyway.

Afternoon snacks (not pictured): I attended a retirement party at work, and had a tiny focaccia and chicken salad sandwich, a mini-brownie, and a cube of cheese. Plus a few sips of ginger-soda-tea punch.

Dinner: black beans topped with queso panela, plus a tortilla with butter. I cooked the beans in the crockpot all day, so when I got home the house smelled wonderful.

  • Tigress Pub

A list of things I love about the Tigress Pub:

    • Teensy tiny bar, with just a few seats in the whole place.
    • Owned and run by our friend Pam, who’s so much fun. She’s never been a bartender, never worked in a bar, never owned a bar. She just wanted to do it, and she did it.
    • Vintage glassware that Pam found at thrift stores.
    • Really good beers from a beautiful tap.
    • Beautiful, large cube ice.
    • Excellent classic cocktails, and every one of them is just $7.
    • Old creepy black and white movies on the two TVs at all times.
    • Pam lets you bring in your own food to eat.
    • Pam’s laugh is fabulous.
    • Yes, the service can be a bit slow – but you can see that it’s just Pam, working hard, enjoying herself, making your cocktails, doing her thing, and it’s all good.

  • Wednesday

Breakfast: Justin drove me around this morning, and we stopped at Starbucks for my regular – a tall soy no whip mocha.

Lunch with coworkers at Tam Deli: my favorite, the #14 – pork banh mi. I love their mayonnaise.

Dessert at Tam Deli: cream puffs. So insanely good.

Dinner: Spaghetti with meat sauce, salad, baguette, steamed cauliflower, chardonnay for everyone. Β Rachel came over to have dinner with us.Β Yes, I am currently in a chardonnay rut.

Dessert at Cipollina: creme brulee and ginger cake. Yes, I went here two nights in row.

I’ve completed one week of photographing everything I eat! I hope these posts are remotely interesting to everyone else, because I’m loving them. πŸ™‚

  • Tuesday

Breakfast: cereal and soy milk. I bought Barbara’s Puffins (original) because I swear I’ve tried them before and liked them, but these tasted like cardboard. I only ate about half.

Work snack: hot cocoa made with soy milk.

Late lunch at work: I had an appointment and had to make a quick stop at Central Market for lunch. I had green chile chicken soup and mixed berries. My coworker made these chocolate-peanut jumbles, which I ate for dessert. Mmmm.

Dinner alone at Cipollina: beef cheek agnolotti with brown butter sauce and chardonnay. Our bathroom is being re-tiled, and the tiler was still there when I got home from work, so I didn’t want to stay in the house. Justin was out with a friend, so I walked to Cipollina for dinner.

    Dessert: creme brulee.
