Things & Stuff

  • Thursday

    Lunch: leftover fideo and coffee.

    Dinner at Homeslice: Caesar salad.

Tomato pizza. (I like how Justin’s hand seems to just be hanging magically in the air.)

Today was so very busy. I didn’t have time for breakfast. I didn’t have time for snacks. I meant to get a cup of tea during the day, but by the afternoon I found my teacup sitting on my desk with a teabag in it… I never made it to the office kitchen to get hot water. I packed a chocolate chunk cookie to snack on in the afternoon, but never had the chance to eat it. I didn’t even really realize how busy the day was until it was over.

Justin picked me up from work this evening, and it was quickly decided that we needed pizza, pronto. So Homeslice it was. I love their salad, I love their subs, I love their pizza. But today it was so loud and crowded in there that I couldn’t hear Justin talk, and I couldn’t really relax. It was just one of those days, I guess. At least now I’m at home, and all is quiet, and I’m going to curl up in bed with a book and a cat or two (and maybe that chocolate chunk cookie), and fall asleep early.

    Good night, internets.

  • Wednesday

Breakfast: hot cocoa made with soy milk.

Lunch: my coworker D. brought in tamales that his mom made. They were deeeelicious.

Snack: my coworker C. shared her Girl Scout cookies with us. I love these ones; I don’t know what they’re called. I also had some hot tea and a few Triscuits.

Dinner at Corazon: crab cake with salad.

NY Strip steak with potatoes and asparagus and a compound butter of some sort.

    Chocolate mousse.

Me: What should we make for dinner? We could roast butternut squash and beets. We could make a salad with fennel. We could have spinach quesadillas.

    Justin: Okay.

Me: Or we could eat out. My coworker C. gave me a coupon for Corazon.

    Justin: Yes!!

We’re bad for each other – we both love eating at restaurants. Also, my coworkers are really, really great, if you haven’t noticed already.

  • Tuesday

    Lunch: cheese toast.

    Dessert: chocolate chunk cookie.

Dinner: fideo with mushrooms and cheese. I also had a toasted tortilla.

I woke up with a stomachache this morning that never really went away. By mid-afternoon I felt so exhausted and funky that I came home. I’ve feel like I’ve been sickly lately – I have to get healthier! I can’t quite place what’s wrong, I just end up feeling rundown, achy, headachy, stomachachy. My friend S. would say that I need more fruits and vegetables. Justin would say I’m overstressed. They’re probably both right.

Speaking of veggies and fruits, our Farmhouse bin came today. It’s slim pickin’s, since lots of stuff froze on the farms last week. We got: spinach, butter lettuce, beets, fennel, mushrooms, cabbage, avocados, grapefruit, butternut squash.

We’re expecting another cold front tomorrow – it’s very weird that it’s going to get colder as the day goes by, instead of warmer. Everyone’s hoping for another ice day (it’s supposed to rain all night/morning, then possibly freeze during the day), but I’m not getting my hopes up.

I just watched a heckuva lot of movie trailers on apple.com, and added lots more to my list of films I want to see. It seems like there are lots of action movies coming out soon – and several of them to do with aliens.

In other randomness, I like these things:

This pretty cream puff display on Hilda’s blog.

This super-cute cafe on Hello Sandwich.

The cheese plate (with a huge wedge of cheese and a halved pear) at Anchor & Hope, on Brian’s blog.

Oh Joy’s green and pink (must get to Zara soon).

These haunting self-portraits by Ari Gabel.

Artisanal candy bars from Liddabit Sweets.

    Adios!

  • Monday, Monday

Breakfast: tall soy mocha, not pictured.

Lunch at Banzai with N.: salmon nigiri and tofu ramen. We were 11 and 12.

Dinner at Chuy’s: frozen margarita and an appetizer plate. We never make it past the appetizer plate – it has queso, guacamole, sour cream, flautas, nachos and quesadillas. We can’t even finish this plate – what more do you need?

Dessert: Pepperidge Farm dark chocolate chunk cookie. We finally went to the grocery store. 🙂

Also, I’m completely obsessed with this game for the iPad called Little Things. I think it’s for kids, but I love it. You just search for objects, over and over. Playing it makes me sleepy, though.

Also, why are Mondays always so hard? I would like to petition for Mondays to be removed from the calendar. Or maybe there could be a law that work isn’t allowed to start until noon on Mondays, after everyone’s slept in a bit and had a nice cup of coffee and a leisurely breakfast. Someday, I’m going to wake up with enough time to have a leisurely breakfast before work. Someday.

  • Sunday

Breakfast: cheese omelet and crescent rolls with jam.

Early dinner: Golden Grahams with soy milk.

    Late dinner: cheese and crackers.

Dessert: dark chocolate with peanut butter.

This is what happens when you’re too lazy to get groceries – you eat cereal and cheese and crackers for dinner. We REALLY need to get groceries tomorrow. And I really need to get back in the kitchen… once we starting eating at restaurants, it’s so hard to stop!
