  • Blogiversary!

Somehow my blogiversary slipped by without me realizing it. I have been blogging for SEVEN years. Isn’t that crazy? I don’t even know how to celebrate it.

But I do want to thank all of you for reading, whether you’ve read for seven years (hi mom!) or seven minutes. This place is my journal, my memories, my thoughts, my photos. I’m glad to share it with you, and to find like-minded people who love/worry about/hope for the same things I do.

    Have a great week, everyone!

  • Toys!

Hi peeps! Today Justin and I are reminiscing about the toys we had as kids. Justin started with Battle Beasts – sometimes he’ll randomly say, “Wood! Wood beats water!!!” So he finally decided I should know what he was talking about. Please observe:

And I said that I had one My Little Pony, and that I loved it so much and that it smelled so good, and that the hair was so perfect. I can’t remember which one I had – maybe Glory, Windy or Moonstone.

And then I remembered that I also had this other pony, that was crazy pretty, and I could put glitter in her hair, and she had accessories – it took me an hour to figure out what it was called. Fashion Star Fillies! (I had Chloe.)

I also had eight Micro Machines Travel City sets – the car wash, the battle block, the drive-thru fish & chips, the fire department, the hospital, the marina air base, the police department, and the suburban house. I adored these – I would put them together and take them apart over and over and over again. I loved the little interactive car wash and the garage doors that opened and closed. (I couldn’t find an English version of this one.)

And then we remembered these little “After These Messages” commercials…

Which then reminded me that I watched Welcome to Pooh Corner every every day.

    As well as Dumbo’s Circus.

    And of course, Fraggle Rock.

We’re having a lovely, rainy Saturday. How about you?♥

    Dear Husband,

I love it when I fall asleep in your arms and then your muscles start to twitch and then your arm shoots up and smacks me in the face. It’s cute.

    Dear Sagra,

Thank you for a lovely evening with my girlfriends this weekend. Seeing the menu and finding a cocktail named after my blog just made me giddy.

    Dear Pinterest,

This makes me nervous. I don’t want to infringe on the rights of photographers and I don’t want to be a thief. I don’t want to delete all my pinboards, but I don’t want to be sued and then be held responsible for your website. I’m a little flummoxed and I hope there’s a good solution.

    Dear Hair,

The other day I got frustrated with you and snipped some of you off. I quite like you better this way. Though I do think I will see Joey and have her clean you up a bit.

    Dear March,

You will bring my 34th birthday and poco-cocoa’s 7th birthday. Holla!!

    Dear Nirvana T-Shirt,

You are my favorite thrift store find at the moment. I hope you don’t mind that I wear you and wash you so often – you’re just so perfect.

    Hope you’re all having a great week!♥

  • Beans & Eggs

Last night I had this for dinner, and now it’s my favorite thing. Toasted bread topped with white beans (olive oil, garlic, canned cannelini beans, tarragon) and an egg fried in duck fat. I think I’ll have it for lunch today, too.

    Have a great weekend, everyone!♥

    On Leap Day, 2012…

Roux watched the birds and squirrels from inside the screen door. We heard the doves: bee DOO, doooo, doooo.

I learned about vocal fry, which I’m fairly certain I’m guilty of.

Justin made my coffee with plenty of sugar and cream, just how I like it.

I stretched, because I’m old and achy. I am 30 days away from my 34th birthday.

I figured out which messenger bag I want, now that I’ll be scooting to our office.

I had a frozen burrito for lunch.

I texted with my friend Rachel, who is currently in Vietnam, and will be home in 11 weeks. I can’t wait.

I decided that since I like tripe, I will probably like lampredotto.

    I painted my toenails.

I read a few pages of the latest Frankie Magazine on my iPad.

    I solved crossword puzzles.

Bill Cunningham encouraged me to add more color to my wardrobe.

I tried on outfits. My mirror is dusty.

I waited for Justin to pick me up for dinner at Foreign & Domestic. We ate:

sunchoke soup :: lardo with toast, radishes and Nutella :: squid with chorizo and ricotta :: pappardelle with truffle butter, soft egg, and lardo :: roasted acorn squash curry :: lemon cake with caramel ice cream :: chocolate cashew tart with blood orange sorbet :: apple and cherry strudel with ginger ice cream.

    It was delicious, as always.

Also of note: Our friend Paul Qui won Top Chef!

    Happy Leap Day, everyone!♥
