Casa de Luz

November 17, 2010

Lunch last week at Casa de Luz included kabocha squash soup with pumpkin seeds and salad with white and sweet miso mustard dressing (topped with shredded beets, jicama and carrot)…

As well as quinoa salad with almonds, great northern beans, sauerkraut, blanched greens with sunflower sesame seed sauce, and steamed cauliflower, carrots and zucchini.

Casa de Luz is where I go when I need some peace in the middle of the day, or when I’m hungry for veggies and soup, or when I’m feeling bad about my body and want to have a virtuous meal. It serves many purposes with its macrobiotic vegan food, but mostly, it just tastes really, really good. I could cook each of these things at home – but when would I have the time and energy to cook all of them for one meal? Soup and salad and veggies and greens and sauce and pickle and grains and beans? It feels decadent and wholesome at the same time.

That sounds (and looks) really similar to Angelica Kitchen in NYC…fantastic vegan food.

Casa de Luz – house of light? Lighthouse? It looks like a really nice restaurant!
