I’m finding all these restaurant photos from my book research that I never had time to share. By the end of the research period, I was so wiped out that I actually just stopped carrying my camera to the restaurants. I’m going to try to post a few of the old photos every so often.

Tarka is a casual Indian restaurant owned by the same people who own Clay Pit… it’s kind of a fast-food concept, where you order at a counter and your food is brought to you. It’s surprisingly good.

Above are samosas. (These accidentally came to our table instead of the samosa chaat. We still ate them.)

    this reminds me of london! happy memories of living in shoreditch and smelling curry in the air every-single-day.
    i love indian food too, it’s not an everyday kind of food for me but i did bring my share of curry and korma with me when moving back to italy… ;)x

      Do you make curry at home often? My favorite recipe is one I learned in an Indian cooking class, and it takes all day to make. Needless to say, I don’t make it often.

        the only recipes we use, and follow to the letter, are the lebanese and italian ones. somehow we’re pretty strict with those – they have to be exactly like the original ones.
        with everything else, it’s alchemy… it’s us in the kitchen trying to mix the ingredients we have at home with some different spices so we have different little dishes every day. or something that looks and tastes pretty similar to something we had out.
        so in answer to your question, lately i’ve been using curry everywhere, but i haven’t got a single indian recipe in the kitchen, i’m afraid.
