This weekend we helped throw a surprise zombie birthday party for our friend Bud. He loves Halloween and costumes and horror movies and haunted houses (there was even a documentary made about him). Every year he does an elaborate costume for Halloween, and he makes it so fun. So his wife, amazing woman that she is, somehow managed to plan a ginormous 40th birthday party for him, complete with about 30 of his friends, all zombiefied by a makeup artist, plus food and drinks and music and decorations and lighting and firepits and Rock Band – and he had no clue! He showed up to his house last night (Justin had kept him busy all day) and as they drove in the driveway, about 30 zombies attacked the car. He was nervous and creeped out and extremely happy, and it was so much fun. I’ve never been a part of a surprise party that was actually a true surprise like this. I think Bud was honored and amazed to see how much we all love him and support him and are willing to become zombies just for him. I wish I had taken more photos!
Today I’m extremely tired – I had no idea how much work it takes to put on a party! It’s 6:00 p.m. and I’m already ready for bed. 🙂
