Journaling

I keep lots of journals. My favorites are my visual journals, which I fill with images, thoughts, poems, etc. from magazines, websites, cards, and whatever ephemera I can get my hands on. Here’s a peek at my most recent journal:

It’s fun to look back on these and remember why I clipped a certain photo (or try to remember, anyway), and to wonder what I was thinking about back then. I suppose it’s like an analog Pinterest board.Β Does anyone else keep a journal like this?

The crazy in me wants to scan in or photograph all these journals, just in case they ever get lost or burned or whatever. I’d have entire Flickr collections of these! I’m such a hoarder. πŸ™‚

  1. What a great way to keep track of your thoughts and influences…I’d be inclined to do the same except that I’ve stopped buying magazines since I’ve started following so many interesting blogs. I found yours by chance about a month ago and you’ve fast become one of my new favs πŸ™‚ Hope you keep it up, I love reading about what’s happening in your neck of the woods….which is very very far away from me!

    1. I’m so glad you found my little blog! Thank you so much for your kind words. I actually wish I subscribed to more magazines just to cut out the photos. πŸ™‚

  2. yes, i used to for 10 years +. before the internet, when I used to buy lots of magazines and fill my a4 size scrapbooks with inspirational images. i still have all of my books, there must be at least 30 of them which are occasionally so nice to look back on. and every image still catches my eye in that very way it did when i first saw it. nice to know my taste hasn’t changed. also, nice to see someone else indulging in the same pleasure πŸ™‚

    1. Yay! There’s just something lovely about putting images together in a journal that I can’t get from Pinterest. I love that you still have yours!
