Letters #9

Dear Husband,

I love that when I’m not feeling well, you know that the proper medicine is cuddling. You can always make me feel better.

Dear iPad,

You bring me the loveliest things. Like Saveur magazine, and interactive Martha Stewart Living, and interactive Everyday Food, and The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore. Today I found out I can get Italian, and French, and Japanese cooking magazines with you, too. I do love you.

Dear Roux Stick,

You have taken to meowing loudly at the door to get my attention, so that I’ll pull up the ottoman next to my desk and pet you until you curl up and calm down. But then when I stop petting you and go back to work, you return to the door and meow loudly again. To the moon, Roux Stick.

Dear Brain,

Lately you’ve been overwhelmed with maybes and shoulds and possiblys. I feel such a strong need to create things, and yet such a fear of beginning. Should I bind books? Draw? Photograph? Collage? Sew? Embroider? I don’t know where to begin, and though I’m happy for your many ideas, I think I need help in sorting them out. Maybe we need a bigger journal.

Hope you’re all having a lovely Bastille Day!
