    rum

This is a dangerous drink. It tastes like Jamaica and is too easy to make! A couple of years ago when we went to Portland, we had a great rum drink at Beaker & Flask (which is now closed). It was a simple mix of dark rum and pineapple gomme over coconut water ice cubes. I forgot all about it until I saw this pineapple gum syrup at Métier – and now it’s our new favorite thing!

So we label our booze jars a bit differently. Our dark rum is labeled “Ya mon, why not?” because when we were in Jamaica, Justin was getting a piña colada at the bar, and said, “hey, can I get two of these?” And the bartender said, “Ya mon, why not?” 🙂

Our tequila jar is labeled “Hard Water,” our gin is labeled “White Lady” (my favorite gin drink), and our Creme Yvette is labeled “Royal Chubbles.”

    Royal Chubbles:
    Cheap bubbly = chubbles
Bubbly with cassis added = Kir Royale
Cheap bubbly with my preferred Creme Yvette added = Royal Chubbles
It somehow makes sense in my brain. 😉

  • Funky things

Hey guys. I’m working on a new blog template, so if things are funky, just ignore. If they’re not funky, rock on. 🙂

  • Recently, Randomly

There was this blog I used to read years ago, and the author was possibly Asian and British, and had the most beautiful linen clothing, and she did “Recently, Randomly” posts. I wish I had kept links to all of the blogs I have loved and left over the years, because I have no idea how to find that blog again. And I have serious Google-fu, so if I haven’t found it now, I probably never will. Sadness.

Here are some raw green beans.

Here are some cooked green beans. I made these a few weeks ago, and that’s pretty much all I have to say about these green beans, except that the time change has really been putting a damper on my dinner photos, with it being all dark and all.

I read another book this week called Heads in Beds. It was so fun! It’s basically an irreverent and hilarious memoir of a guy who has worked in the hotel industry for a decade. There are so many behind-the-scenes details that are fascinating – and the stories are great. I loved it.

In other news, this is my current favorite song.

    Peace out.♥

  • Doughnuts!

I made some doughnuts. Pumpkin doughnuts with cinnamon sugar, and some with maple glaze. I had seen doughnuts popping up all over the internets and decided I’d make some, too. Mmm… doughnuts.

I took some to the studio to share with peeps. Those people are probably going to gain weight this winter, because I’m on a baking rampage.

In other news, I just read a book that was so good that I finished it in one evening. And when I got to the very end, there was one line that I remembered from somewhere… and then I realized I had already read the book two years ago. It’s hard to believe I would forget a whole book! In case you want to read a thriller, it’s Before I Go To Sleep by S.J. Watson. Super fun.♥
