Heroes in a half-shell

So on Tuesday I went to Zumba for the first time! My friend Rebecca has been nicely inviting me to join her there for a while now, and yesterday I finally did. It’s so much fun – and (this is really going to show my age) it’s a lot like Jazzercise, which I used to do about 15 years ago (God, I’m old). Except in Zumba you don’t do specific core work or arm work, which would be nice. Anyway, I got home and had a banana with a smidge of peanut butter on each bite. (One of my favorite combos = banana + peanut butter.)

I made us each a green juice – apple, celery, Swiss chard, cucumber, ginger, and lemon. Turtle Power!

I’ve been combining weird things to make meals lately. This was a late lunch of adzuki beans, fried egg, salad greens, cherry tomatoes, and cold sauteed Brussels sprouts. So good.

I had my usual margarita while finishing up some evening work.

For sunset patio time, we had some rosé with chips and salsa. These are the brands I like.

We decided to watch movies – The Hobbit and Brave. Justin whipped up a salty snack – carrots, snap peas, cherry tomatoes, and bread with butter, olive oil, and salt for dipping.

I of course loved the Hobbit, and especially Thorin Oakenshield, but I was sad to realize I’d have to wait for the second half to be released. This one didn’t seem to flow as well as the LOTR trilogy, which I adored. Also, Brave was sweet and made me cry, but it was a weird story with creepy wisp things and the moral seemed to be “you’re a bad daughter.” So meh.

  1. Oh Daily Eats, how I’ve missed them! Glad they are back, at least for now, right? 🙂 I remember Jazzercise, I loved it. It was so much fun.

  2. I dunno which shows the age more, Jazzercise or Heroes in a Half Shell (I thought for YEARS that it was Heroes on the Half Shell, but that’s clearly oysters).

    YAY! You made it to Zumba! I wanna try barre classes… Zumba seems a little too funkified for my un-hip… hips. I’m so glad you enjoyed it!

    I GOTTA get some bananas. Banana and PB looks like a perfect after workout snack!
