What I ate today: Thursday 10/30/08

Not a great food day…I’m not feeling so well, and so I’m not too hungry. (My office is scary…it seems like EVERYONE has been out sick sometime this week! I just keep washing my hands, washing my hands…)

7:45 a.m. – Shredded wheat cereal with soymilk

12:00 p.m. – Lunch at Blue Dahlia with my husband: Egg salad tartine (with organic greens and fresh dill, sprinkled with olive oil and dotted with capers…mmmmmm) and hot chai. (And also a piece of Justin’s chicken salad tartine with dried cranberries on top.)

2:00 p.m. – October birthdays celebration at work, where we watched the Thriller video and ate cake. I had a few bites of an ice cream cake, then discreetly threw it away. I don’t like ice cream cake. Is that weird?

3:00 p.m. – Piece of Dove chocolate from my co-worker’s candy bowl. (Curse that candy bowl!!)

After work, I slept. And slept. And woke up feeling a little achy. (Please please please don’t get sick!) So I had a simple, comforting late dinner:

9:15 p.m. – spaghetti tossed with butter and pecorino Romano. Though what I really wanted was my mom’s chicken soup.

10:15 p.m. – Snickerdoodle left over from last night.

Throughout the day: Iced water.

As for breakfast, I still woke up late and had to rush through my cereal. Tomorrow at work we’re having a “Friday Morning Halloween Breakfast Potluck Crazy Fun Time” (as my co-worker called it), and I’m bringing some shredded cheese. Apparently we’re going to make breakfast tacos in the kitchen. It sounds like it will be eggs and cheese and maybe bacon. Here’s hoping that someone brings potatoes, so I can have a potato-cheese taco instead…

And seriously, did I even have one vegetable or fruit today? Sheesh!

Here’s to a better food day tomorrow…(I can’t wait until Saturday, when I’ll have time to get groceries! I have a stack of recipes I’ve torn out from Gourmet and Saveur that I can’t wait to cook. And an old favorite that has been haunting my thoughts lately…Pumpkin Spice Cake with Honey Frosting…I think it’s time to make it!)
