Letters #3

Dear Husband,

I have no idea how you’ve had the energy to take care of me and nurse me back to health these days. You’ve made me mashed potatoes and chicken noodle soup, you’ve taken me for walks, you’ve brought me Jan’s chocolate cake from Fresh Plus and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. You’ve hugged me and kissed me, you’ve cheered me up, you’ve made me laugh, and you’ve just made me feel better. I would like to request you as my nurse during all future illnesses and injuries.

Dear God,

Thank you for speedy recoveries. Thank you for medicines that work – both for me and for my friend, who feels better than ever. Thank you for coffee beans and sugar cane and red, ripe strawberries. Thank you for staying with me in times of fear and anxiety. It’s so nice knowing you’re there.

Dear Toads,

I hear you at night by the pond now, singing about summer. I missed you this winter, but now that you’re back, I wish you had a more convenient singing schedule. Can we say quiet time starts at midnight? K thx.

Dear Richard Linklater,

I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to watch Before Sunrise and Before Sunset. How lovely, romantic, intelligent, and hopeful! Please, sir, I want some more.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

  1. Dear little miss,

I love you and i miss you!

    Your Big Sis

  2. I loooooooooove Before Sunrise/Sunset. My brother recommended that I watch the first film years ago when I was in college and it just floored me. So beautiful, and reflective, and honest. And then I watched the follow up, and I loved that one even more…I’m so happy for you that you’ve discovered these beautiful films.

    1. Yes, I think I love the Before Sunset more – but both of them together (both available on Netflix instant!) are just lovely.

  3. Love your letters series. Such a sweet and clever way to record memories and gratefulness.

    1. Thank you! I’ve been trying to keep a gratitude journal forever, but this seems to work well for me. 🙂

  4. A little late.. but have to add my love for Before Sunrise – it’s one of my favorites. Enjoying your letters as well!
