The light leak.

July 1, 2010

So my Polaroid has a light leak. It’s killin’ me, Smalls. It started out as “this lovely quirk,” but has quickly become “that stupid light spot.” I have no idea how to stop it… I’m guessing I should peek inside the camera once this package of film is used up, but I really don’t know what I’m looking for. Just one more reason I need a vintage Polaroid sx-70 or an Instax… 🙂

These were all taken on our recent trip to west Texas.

That truck is awesome! Looks especially great being photographed like this!

Thanks! My dad rebuilds old cars/trucks. I grew up going to car shows and knowing how to differentiate between a ’55, ’56, and ’57 Chevy. 🙂

I think it’s sort of like a signature on your photos. “See that light leak? It’s my camera.” But you’re right, there is a possibility that it might get annoying after a while… I know next to nothing about photography, so I can’t really help you here 🙁

Your photos are gorgeous, by the way. 🙂 Lovely effects.

These pics are awesome girl 🙂 I think the “light leak” actually looks really cool!

Love these photos – the vintage look is super cool. And also? I wouldn’t have noticed the light spot if you hadn’t pointed it out. Maybe take it down to your local camera place? I had a similar thing happening with my dads old film SLR from the 80s, and they fixed up a crack that was letting light and dust and stuff.

Really? Okay, cool. I’m just going to pretend it doesn’t exist and keep on shooting. (And I hadn’t thought of taking it in to my camera shop, but it’s probably worth a shot!)

  5. Your leaky photos are still incredibly lovely.
