The Highball

Photos from dinner at The Highball a couple of weekends back…

Justin was craving bacon. So he asked our server to bring him a side of bacon.

We started with some fries, which were quite good, as fries go. Served with ketchup and demi-glace for dipping.

Rachel and Logan shared a Caesar salad. It looked yummy.

Justin opted for the Dr. Pepper ribs. Sweet on the outside, tender on the inside, but I would have liked it a bit saltier.

Rachel and Logan had the local veggie plate. It looked interesting, though perhaps a bit sad. The quinoa was just that… steamed quinoa, plain and boring. I didn’t try any of it, though, so maybe it was fabulous.

I chose the lamb tips with rice, which was meaty and stewy and good. Very homey.

So, good food, though kind of expensive. Okay cocktails, pretty atmosphere. I’m not in a great hurry to go back for dinner, though I could see that going for karaoke might be fun.

  1. Totes agreement with your assessment. And that side of bacon is still freaking funny.

The quinoa was just as sad as it looked, though I liked that cucumber and radish salad. That plate was one of those where you just keep thinking “Well, at least it’s healthy…”

Er… is it weird that I’m commenting on all of your posts?

  2. Nope, not weird. At least I know someone out there is reading. 🙂

  3. Sorry to hear the meal was just “eh.” So the side of bacon was just the one piece. How very very sad!

  4. I had quail hot wings there — deeee lish!!!

  5. I felt the same way. Great atmosphere, tasty bevs, great service, so-so food….the only menu item that blew my mind was the quail hot wings. O….M….G…..yum!

  6. Hmm, I’m glad to hear about your experience. I’ve been wanting to check out highball but wanted to wait for it to settle down a bit… if that ever happens. at least i know i’m not missing out on the food!
