This is always my favorite part of cafes… the messy counter where people add their cream and sugar and such.

Dinner at Perla’s
We went to Perla’s for dinner last week. We sat in the bar (lately I’ve much preferred sitting in the bar area of restaurants. It’s less formal, and I feel better about ordering just appetizers or whatnot).
They’ve updated their cocktail menu. I had a Fog Cutter (rum-based fruity drink that reminded me of Jamaica), and Justin had a rye mint julep.
They brought out tiny hush puppies while we waited.
I had grilled oysters with bacon and breadcrumbs. So smoky and delicious.
Of course Justin had raw oysters.
We shared the tomato-oyster chowder. So delicious.
And of course the fried calamari and peppers.
We’re so lucky to be able to enjoy all these great restaurants, and to live in a city that prides itself on good food. 🙂

Friday Night Dinner at Taverna
Justin and I went downtown for dinner on Friday. We tried La Condesa, but it was packed. We tried Lambert’s, but it was closed for a private event. We strolled by Taverna, and decided to try it out.
We sat on the patio and watched the rain fall. Dinner was really good… I think it’s a good spot to get some basic pasta or pizza.
Focaccia and olive oil with balsamic vinegar. Bottle of prosecco in the background.
Justin’s pasta with chicken, mushrooms, and cream sauce. Tomato-basil soup in the foreground.
My pasta with pork, mushrooms, and cream sauce. We didn’t realize we basically ordered the same thing.

New Shoes!
I finally bought a pair of TOMS shoes… and I may never wear any other shoes again. They’re so comfortable! And super cute… I’m already wondering what other colors I should buy. 🙂
