Ambrosia

Posted on September 23rd, 2010

People. Do you like veggies? Do you like cute? Do you like yum? Go to Ambrosia (facebook page here). I live mere blocks away from this place and I had never been there before… tragedy! A friend and I went for lunch this week, and I fell in love with it. Everything is vegan, raw, mostly organic, mostly local. (Later in the winter they may do a few cooked vegan dishes.) Everything is made fresh, and when we went, there was only one cook, so it took a little while for our food to be made. But I’m perfectly okay with that, if it’s being made fresh. Sunday, Sunday

Posted on September 19th, 2010

How is it already Sunday evening? I spent most of our weekend holed up at home, writing. We stopped to order pizza from Spartan Pizza, and drove way the heck down south to pick it up. Uchiko

Posted on September 13th, 2010

So I finally took my camera with me to Uchiko for dinner. We’ve eaten at Uchi and Uchiko plenty of times, but I’ve never photographed anything. I’m not really sure why. Anyway, here’s how our evening went! I had the pan am, a cocktail made with sake, watermelon agua fresca, and granny smith apples. Justin had the Zero Sen, a sake made just for Uchi and Uchiko. He designed the label for the bottles. We were brought a tiny amuse-bouche of grape tomatoes with basil blossoms. Cobia crudo – Caribbean kingfish, cucumber and jalapeno. Justin designed the chef’s coat patches. Madai – Japanese bream nigiri with shiso, meyer lemon zest and olive oil. Nasu – Japanese eggplant and sumiso nigiri. This is seriously the…
