Hey guys! This weekend my mom and my sister drove over from West Texas to check out some hill country stuff. Justin drove me down to San Marcos on Friday night, and the three of us gals went to Wimberley and Fredericksburg on Saturday. Then Justin drove to Fredericksburg on Sunday morning to pick me up (he really is a sweetheart).
We went to Wimberley Market Days, shopped downtown Fredericksburg, and ate a LOT. We got the girly giggles, we talked, and we stayed up too late playing games. We had lots of fun.
I made a little video of our weekend. Now that I’ve made a few videos, here’s what I think:
- I need to walk and move more slowly when I’m filming.
- My little Zumi camera really only picks up my voice when I’m filming, and not much of what’s in front of the camera.
- I’m thinking of using my DSLR for filming… while I love the vintage look of these videos, I want try it out with a clear image, too.
- I love videos!
So as we’ve been trying out new restaurants, I’ve been taking photos. Lots of photos. Some with my fancy-pants DSLR, some with my iPhone. I finally took the time to upload a huge batch of them last night, and I added them to my flickr page. I’m not going to blog about all of them (maybe a few), but if you want to see what we’ve been eating lately, you can see them on flickr.
I did notice one recurring theme in all these photos, which I have dubbed Justin in the Corner. Apparently I like to photograph Justin framed in the corner of the photo, with the restaurant background behind him.

Thanks, babylove, for letting me take and post your photos, and for making every meal a bajillion times better with your presence.
Hi guys… if you like reading my blog, and you’re feeling generous, wanna go over here, under Food and Drink, and vote for me for best local food blog in the Austin Chronicle’s Best Of Austin 2010 poll? You don’t have to vote for anything else on the page if you don’t want to.
K thx!
Hola internets! Here’s a 5-minute video mashup of our weekend, if you’re at all interested (and I completely understand if you’re not).
So I’m slowly learning how to use iMovie… next I have to figure out how to SPEAK LOUDLY so the microphone picks up what I’m saying. I’ve increased the microphone volume as high as it will go, but it’s still hard to hear some of it. Maybe next time.
Also, can I just say that it is SO HARD for me to post this, with myself actually talking in the video? I much prefer being behind the camera! I’m forcing myself to post it, though, so that eventually (hopefully) I will be more accepting of my voice and face and hair and such.

So we bought a new camera. No, it’s not the Fuji Instax (though that’s probably next)… it’s this super-cute, teensy tiny digital Harinezumi 2. (Did I mention how much I love Photojojo?)
It shoots lovely vintagey, grainy video and lo-fi stills in color or black and white. You can shoot in the macro mode, and it makes everything all blurry-delicious.
A few stills:

We took it with us to dinner at Cipollina, and then I pored over iMovie instructions until I figured out how to edit it into one lovely little film. So here it is! Please be kind, I’ve never used iMovie before!
So I’ve started yet another project… I’ve been collecting images forever, and I sometimes share them on my twinkle lights blog, but mostly they just go into my Evernote. Now I’m saving them to Pinterest, which is a super-cool site that allows you to pin images from all over the web, categorize them, tag them, and share them. You can comment on other people’s pins, or repin their images. It’s like tumblr, but much prettier/easier/better.
My favorite of my boards so far is my Life to-do list. I’ve created little reminders of things I want to do in life. Things like creating handwritten cookbook of my favorite recipes, or drinking Turkish coffee in Turkey, or always keeping my head up.
I do have five invitations to Pinterest that I can share… if you’re interested in saving/sharing your images in this way, leave me a comment (include your email), and I’ll send an invite over.
I have to say that I do still use Evernote extensively… it’s more of my idea/recipe/note filing system, and I’m using Pinterest as a mood/inspiration board. You can never have too many toys, right?
