Movie watching

So. Here are some films I watched recently, and what I took from them.

Prometheus

There is a delicate balance between the acceptance of death and the desire to survive. Also, scientists of the future are stupid, and want to touch random gooey substances and scary creatures.

Shame

The person next to you could be fighting the hardest battle of his or her life. Also, New York, New York, if sung very slowly, can be devastatingly sad.

Happy Accidents

At some point in a relationship, you will have to let go of facts and appearances and just trust in your love for each other. Also, Marisa Tomei is HOT.

Submarine

Having someone understand and support you during depression is priceless. Also, I want to take more Polaroids.

The Muppets

Never give up! Also, I still just don’t like Jason Segel.

Jane Eyre

Independence, belonging, love, forgiveness, bravery – these are so important. Also, my new favorite quote is “You transfix me quite.

Another Earth

You cannot change the past. Also, don’t drink and drive.

Sweetgrass

There is so much beauty in nature and silence. Also, I need more time outdoors.

Have you seen any good films lately? Pass them on!

  1. Moonrise kingdom. Wes Anderson at his most wes Anderson-y.

    1. Yes! We’re hoping to catch it at the Violet Crown this week!

  2. We saw Prometheus also. It was fun, but ultimately not as great of a movie as it could have been. That c-section scene was AMAZING, though!

Shame has been on our list for a long time, but I’m kind of scared to watch it because of how intense I’ve heard it is. I’ll definitely need to see this soon.

And you don’t like Jason Segel?!? Have you seen Freaks and Geeks? You will fall in love with him. If you haven’t seen it, I’ll loan you our DVDs because it’s amazing and you can’t continue to live life without watching it!

We also saw Another Earth and liked it as well. But you should watch her newest one, Sound of My Voice, which is even better.

And I second the Moonrise Kingdom suggestion. So sweet and his funniest movie in my opinion.

I’ve never heard of the others on your list, so I’ll have to check them out.

    1. Yes, I loved Freaks and Geeks! Still don’t love Jason Segel, though. Sound of My Voice is on my list!

  3. Thank you for this! Do Netflix streaming reviews as a regular thing, because I might “meh” something awesome and never watch it otherwise.

    1. Same to you! I’m always looking for movie suggestions. 🙂

      1. Tiny Furniture, by the who-gave-you-all-this-self-esteem-and-can-they-adopt-me? girl who created HBO’s “Girls”.

      2. I want to see both of those!

  4. I totally agree with you about the scientists in Prometheus. The entire film I was thinking “you shouldn’t touch that!” I’m still loving your blog and hope you are doing well.

    1. Sarah! So good to hear from you. Hope all is well for you, too!
