Friday

Internets! I hope you all had wonderful holidays with lots of food and rest. Ours were good – some travel, some debauchery, some sloth.

I’ve been feeling pressured to write a year-end post, or a year-beginning post, and so I’ve decided to just skip that. Instead, here’s daily eats that I forgot to post from last Friday. 🙂

Breakfast: a mocha made with Casa Brasil coffee brewed in the Chemex, plus a few squares of Mast Brothers chocolate, some soy milk, and some sugar. Delectable.

Lunch: I met my friend N. at Kome. We had sushi that I gobbled down so quickly, I forgot to photograph it. I had salmon belly, monkfish liver and bonito, fresh water eel and salt water eel.

I tried the tonkotsu ramen today. It was delicious, but I still prefer the miso ramen with it’s darker broth and ground pork.

Little cat says hello!

And my cat says, “I shall sit on your desk and get in your way, so that you shall pay attention to me only.”

Snack: cupcake. I needed a cupcake today.

Dinner: A ginormous bowl of vegetable soup that I made yesterday.

Dessert 1: sea salt caramels that were on sale for $2.00 (down from $10, yay post-holiday sweets!) at Central Market. So soft and gooey and perfect.

And then of course I had to balance it out with something salty: goldfish crackers.

And in the evening, cupcakes and champagne.

  1. I just got back from vacation and saw your NYC post but the comments were off. I just wanted to say that I adore Kinokunya and am so glad you got to go. I’ve never been to one on the East Coast before. For some reason, it’s never occurred to me that one was there! How silly of me.

I’m glad you got lots of lovely goodies!

And oddly, I like the simple design of the glasses you had champagne in above.

I always find your posts so inspiring. Thank you for sharing!

I’m very slowly, tentatively working on a dream tumblr. Feel free to drop in occasionally when you get bored. I’m going to work on posting more often. I was practically unplugged all vacation long! It was refreshing and odd to be away from a keyboard so often.

    1. We LOVED Kinokuniya! I think the champagne glasses are from World Market, if you wanna. 🙂

I’m excited to see more of your dream posts!

      1. Thanks. I have a dream journal that I write by hand. It’s just having the wherewithal to transcribe it. Oddly enough, I started the dream journal because I realized one day that I spend so little time sleeping that if I dream, I don’t remember it. So I’m trying to make an effort now to sleep more and more importantly, to remember what I saw. 🙂

And thanks for the head’s up about World Market. 🙂

  2. Actually, a perfect ending/beginning post for the new year. Glad you had a good holiday!

    1. Thanks! And happy new year, Anya!
