Monday things

It’s been a busy week for me (but not for Roux). My book signing/sale at the downtown farmers’ market went swimmingly – afterward I was completely pooped out, and my cheeks were sore from smiling so much!

I’ve been reading An Everlasting Meal (still), the latest Lucky Peach, my copy of the first issue of Kinfolk, and back issues of Remedy Quarterly.

I’m loving these tunes from Miss Moss.

I packaged up cookies for my girly friends recently. I wrapped them in waxed paper, then freezer paper, and sewed up the edges with images from a magazine. They were quite cute.

I made carrot hummus from the roasted carrots and garlic I prepped earlier in the week. Yum.

I’ve been meeting with great chefs and restaurant owners, as well as seeing the lovely work done by Aimee Wenske for book #2. It’s going to be so great!

We started watching The Wonder Years on Netflix streaming. I haven’t watched it in years and years (over  decade!), and I cried and cried at the first episode. I also realized that I am/was Winnie Cooper.

Peanut butter on pumpkin bread is heaven.

I’m squealing over the new Hunger Games trailer. I can’t wait!

Likewise, I’m fairly gooey at the thought of Breaking Dawn part 1 coming out on Friday.

I’ve been finding so many new flickr favorites lately.

I hope you all have a wonderful week!

  1. love the cookie packages- a great idea. And carrot hummus sounds great. Is it just like hummus, but substitute carrots for chicpeas?

    1. Actually, I just kind of added the carrots while making the hummus. So chickpeas, roasted carrots, roasted garlic cloves, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice… I think that’s it. It made a TON. 🙂

  2. I am definitely with you on the upcoming hunger games movie and breaking dawn!

    1. I can’t wait! I think I’m going to attempt a matinee tomorrow. 🙂
