walking to work

On Friday, I walked to work. It’s three miles from my home, and when I got to work I felt like I had accomplished a major feat. It took me about an hour, and while it was definitely not easy (I’m really out of shape! And all those hills!), it was fun and the weather was gorgeous. It was 36 degrees out when I left, and I bundled up with my Marmot vest and jacket and gloves and scarf and hat, but half a mile in, I stripped it all down because I got so hot! Justin picked me up from work that evening, which worked out perfectly.

Anyway, I took my camera with me. 🙂

  1. How fun! I love a good walk like that… especially on a new route when you have a destination you are headed towards. AND when it’s nice and cold! 🙂

    1. “Nice” and cold?!?! But I agree, walking makes me really warm up so the cold feels nice.

      1. Yep, and it gets soooo hot here in the summer that I’m enjoying the cold now.

    2. Yes, I love walking TO a place. Just walking for “exercise,” not so much.

  2. Great pics of different parts of Austin!

  3. Jeez, that IS a great accomplishment – definitely pat yourself on the back! It’s so hard to do something like that when your car is just sitting in front of the house.

    1. Thanks! Yes, about 3/4 of the way there I was wishing for my car. 🙂

  4. look at all the green around! it’s so cold and barren here in Boston now. And funny, I live exactly 3 miles away from work too- and though mostly I bike, I like to walk it sometimes- especially if in the morning its to rainy to ride. Because I will do just about anything to avoid taking the crowded bus.

    1. Oh, I do miss walking in Boston! And I would love for it to be cold and wintry – it was almost hot today. Ew. 🙂

  5. Love all the different sites around Austin. Three miles is definitely a hike for work… I looove walking, especially this time of the year when the weather is nice. I’m not sure I’d want to do that walk though in the summer. 🙂 Thanks for sharing all the photos. Love your blog!

    1. That’s true, I dunno if I’ll be walking to work in the summer! Though it is much cooler in the mornings than the evenings. And if Justin can pick me up from work… 🙂 Anyway, thanks for your comment!
