July Tunes

Posted on June 30th, 2010

I’ve made a new music mix for July. You can get to it using the “my tunes” button on the right, or by clicking here. (Can you tell that I love Vampire Weekend? And the Eclipse soundtrack? Yeah, well.) Happy listening!

A new camera! And my first movie!

So we bought a new camera. No, it’s not the Fuji Instax (though that’s probably next)… it’s this super-cute, teensy tiny digital Harinezumi 2. (Did I mention how much I love Photojojo?) It shoots lovely vintagey, grainy video and lo-fi stills in color or black and white. You can shoot in the macro mode, and it makes everything all blurry-delicious. A few stills: *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  * *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  *  * We took it with us to dinner at Cipollina, and then I pored…

So I’ve started yet another project… I’ve been collecting images forever, and I sometimes share them on my twinkle lights blog, but mostly they just go into my Evernote. Now I’m saving them to Pinterest, which is a super-cool site that allows you to pin images from all over the web, categorize them, tag them, and share them. You can comment on other people’s pins, or repin their images. It’s like tumblr, but much prettier/easier/better. My favorite of my boards so far is my Life to-do list. I’ve created little reminders of things I want to do in life. Things like creating handwritten cookbook of my favorite recipes, or drinking Turkish coffee in Turkey, or always keeping my head up. I do have five…

And then she got married.

This weekend we headed to west Texas for my baby, 2-year-old, tiny infant niece’s wedding. Okay, so she’s not an infant, she’s a woman now, but oh! How the time has flown by. I think I’m still in denial. I didn’t get many photos of the actual wedding (you know since I was weeping and all), but look how beautiful and happy she looks: It was sweet, and lovely, and lots of fun. And now she’s Mrs. Pierce. Sniff. Congratulations, baby girl. You’ll always be my shoebox driver.
