Movies, movies, movies

Internets!! How goes it? I’m actually at home this evening, taking a break from the Austin Film Festival. I’ve watched a lot of movies, and I have three more on my must-see list for tomorrow and Thursday, but today I needed a break. I have a couple of quick notes on the films I’ve watched on my other blog.

I forgot to post this dish when we made it a few weeks ago. It’s this Spaghetti with Mascarpone, Meyer Lemon, Spinach, and Hazelnuts recipe from The Kitchn. I used filberts, which I read are very similar to hazelnuts, only because I couldn’t find anything labeled as “hazelnuts” at Central Market. They worked well, but my favorite part of this dish was the yummy lemon-mascarpone sauce. I used regular lemons (no Meyer lemons at Central Market, either) and a bit more mascarpone than called for, and it was delicioso… creamy and bright.

Not much else is going on here, because every moment that I’m not at work, I’ve been at the movies. But the festival ends on Thursday, so after that I plan to be back in my kitchen, baking up something pumpkiny and making some soup. Until then, happy Tuesday!

  1. Just wanted to tell you that we saw Vicious Kind and Happy Ending at the festival too….I LOVED Vicious Kind. It was definitely my favorite movie at the festival. And Happy Ending was so cute!

  2. oh so you saw the Road? I loved the book so much, be i don’t know if i’d be able to see the movie- no matter how close it is. i’m afraid that actually seeing the graphic imagery from the book would really upset me. like the cannibalism. ick.

  3. Agree, love Vicious Kind.

Connie, The Road was just like the book, so definitely some disturbing scenes and images. 🙁

  4. Filberts are hazelnuts! Filberts are a species of hazels. I’m pretty sure the different species don’t differ in flavor or appearance much. Typically commercially filberts refer to the Oregon brand name of hazelnuts.
