Oh, hi.

Just me, checking in. I haven’t been eating anything fabulous lately, or cooking anything fabulous, for that matter. I’m in a slump. A turkey sandwich or bowl of cereal or box of brownies slump. 

How do you get past that? I looked through the latest issue of Gourmet and I was excited about the recipes, and I want to try the food. But each night I get home and just want to slump. As in, I don’t care what I eat, as long as I’m not hungry anymore. It’s a sad place to be for a foodie. 

Ah well, this too shall pass. Right? (Please say yes… )

    I get in those funks too. It has to work itself out on its own. In the mean time, get some of your awesome foodie friends to cook you dinner. 🙂

    Maybe if you brought a fabulous batch of ‘samples’ to your officemates..?

    Maybe Cinco de Mayo would be a great day for that?

    I’ve run into this more times than I can count, particularly in the 10 years since my daughter was born. My solution was to plan to cook something I really cared about on a weekend day when I wasn’t as tired. It often took a few weekends to get there – but it helped energize me. And then during the week I would focus on really great tastes (but not necessarily recipes) like fresh tomatoes and mozzarella with great olive oil, or a nice cheese with my sandwich. Go hunt down an amazing something that you love (cheese, chocolate, veggies, fruit, whatever) and luxuriate in that and see if it doesn’t help. You’ll get there…

    Abso-freakin-lutely! At least, that’s my opinion. I’ve been overwhelmed by all the activity in the bogging and food community–especially around town–and it just makes me want to eat simple tacos or piddle around in my garden drinking wine! Slump away: You’re so passionate about food that it’s only a matter of time before you’re onto something new. 😉
