The Oyster Club

Last night was the kick-off event for The Oyster Club, a new venture from the Rude Mechanicals, a local theater group here in Austin. We hopped in the car and drove out to the Plant at Kyle, which was so insanely gorgeous, we’re trying to scheme up a way to hold an event there ourselves.

There were freshly shucked oysters direct from the Gulf of Mexico…

Peel-and-eat shrimp, so fresh and delicious…

Amazing tea from Zhi Tea (I gulped down the Peach Ginger Oolong tea like it was going out of style)…

Cocktails from the Tipsy Texan and Paula from Paula’s Texas Orange & Lemon

Jambalaya and Oysters Rockefeller and grilled prawns and grilled snapper (holy smokes, that was good), and lemon bars and cocoa beans and and watermelon-cherry tomato salad with feta and nuts, fresh from the farm…

And hammocks and feet in the pool and full bellies and happy endings.

I *heart* the Oyster Club.

  1. Absolutely want to try the Texas Lemon & Orange. Wish they sold it around here. Guess I am going to have to plan a trip to Austin!
