Tasting Austin: Primizie

Did I mention that we live on the east side now? It has its ups and downs, its scary parts and cool parts. For example, just this morning I walked downstairs and got a fabulous haircut at Kemestry Salon, and there are other great places I’ll have to tell you about, like Domy Books and the Peacock Lounge.

One of my favorite places on the east side is Primizie.

This cute little spot serves really, really good Italian food. We’re not talking spaghetti and meatballs, here, either.

They serve things like bruschetta with goat cheese, arugula and roasted beets.

And roasted tomato soup.

And specials made with local meats and produce, and super-fresh seafood from the Gulf of Mexico, like this brodetto.

Not to mention delicious entrees, pastas (try the fresh fettucine alfredo), and pizzas, like this chicken, pancetta and avocado one.

You can choose from their display case of Italian baked goodies, or stick with something like semifreddo.

I could seriously eat here several times a week. I’m loving their new local menu, and they’ve got great cocktails and wines as well.

Come on over to the east side! I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by what you’ll find.

I LOVE PRIMIZIE! My favorite food from there is the flat bread that they give you in the entree.

Do you like Enoteca Vespaio? They remodeled during the summer and decreased the portion sizes but the food is still very good.

You know, I do like Enoteca, but it’s been a while since I’ve been there. I’m interested to see (and taste) it post-remodel! Thanks for the reminder, Ron!

Have you tried Sagra Enoteca Trattoria before? I just found it behind where I live but none of my friends want to go try it out with me. They’re busy/lame… It’s on San Antonio Street…

Do you go to Peacock Lounge often? I used to go with my friends all the time last summer in 07. We haven’t gone this year yet… it’s just farther away from everything because we live around the UT area.

You know, I haven’t tried Sagra. I’m thinking of trying it out during Restaurant Week in October though. I’ve been to the Peacock Lounge once…I need to go back! I really liked that place, and the cocktails were delicious.
